First week of school and our Lapland trip
The first day was great! I've been in the same school before (5-9 grades) so I knew many of the classmates but there was some new people and I was exited to meet them all. All the new people were very silent but after we got to know them they wouldn't shut up and it was a good thing. We started talking so much all the time in school and in our free time that we all became very good friends quickly. It was so much fun to get to know everyone! I'm such a people person so I love meeting new people. I've become really good friends a specially with Susu, Tilda and Sverre.
Trip to Lapland
After a week we started planning our Lapland trip. We decided our rooms and who were going to sleep in them. In my room there was Åsa, Reetta, Susu, Sofia, Iida, Rahma and Kia. Rahma, Susu and Kia were new pupils so we got to know them also better. We all bought Mega Force, chips etc. for our way too long trip. Our parents brought us to school and they kissed us goodbye and then we left. The bus trip to Lapland was 16 hours and it was torture. We were in Kiilopää at 8 am and then we ate breakfast. Then our teacher told us the rooms aren't going to be ready until we came from our hike (it was totally a lie but we went anyway). It was kind of a long start to the hike. We had to wait for 40 minutes because couple students didn't want to go hiking and they weren't going to come so our teachers went to get them and they couldn't get to the buss where the students were. So it took a while.
Hike
The scenery was amazing! I've never seen such a beautiful or quiet place. It made me so calm. Though our legs hurt so much (the fjeld was really steep so our calfs hurt) as we walked 5km to a cafe and back. Thank god there was a little river! The water tasted so good and Susu drank from it too after we had convinced to her it was safe about ten times.
Siida Museum
We went to a museum that was all about Lapland and it's nature. It was beautiful! We had to take pictures in pairs about different topics and after that send them to our teacher. We went to a kids room that had all these fun things that we played with! There was a room where you could go through a tunnel if you crawled so we all went there and our teacher Jarno came too! It was so much fun but kind of crowded because there was so many people in that tiny dark room. Then we got to see Northern Lights document which was amazing but short sadly. A couple came to see it too but as they were taking their seats the document ended. It was pretty funny but we all felt bad for them though.
The Maahinen
Maahinen was a Laplander's hut that was outside the hotel/hostel where we went to after our Siida visit and class that we had. We had a guest who was Lappish and she told us about Lappish culture and people. It was really interesting but we were eating and talking at the same time as she talked (which kind of took our focus and our teacher didn't like that) so I can't really remember the stuff she told us but you know we still had fun! She started singing to us at one point and it sounded really funny then Susu and Maria started laughing really hard and it was so embarrassing (but funny). Then we took some polaroid pictures which were so amazing! We also had a big bonfire which was really cool and it kept us warm and cosy.
Plays
We had to make little plays in our psychology class. In my group there was Jasper, Susu and Kia. Our place where the scene was going to happen was a zoo and I was a visitor, Susu was a lion (if I remember right), Jasper was a elephant and Kia was a zoo worker. It was so much fun doing the little play and we took a polaroid picture where we all are. There were 3 groups after us and they were so amazing too and we all laughed so much!
First-aid class
Two last days that we were in Lapland we all had our first-aid class that we could accomplish if we wanted to. We learnt how to give CPR, do bandages, stop bleeding etc. It was great! I loved practicing on friends all of the things (except CPR because you can't do that to real life person) it made us all laugh so hard! We had these dolls that we'd practice CPR. It really sucked all of the energy you had before the class. At some point we had fake blood so we could make cuts and then do bandages to each other. But the thing was that the blood left a stain that was really clear and wouldn't come off.
Kiilopää and our last night
Our teacher told us that if we didn't hike to Kiilopää ( a fjeld) we'd not pass the class (the Lapland trip was also a advanced studies). So we had a great idea (Susu, Henry, Tuomas and I) that we'd hike to the fjeld at night. So we left the hotel at 9.40 pm and started our hike. The sunset was amazing specially when we got higher! It got darker and darker and Tuomas started to tell a scary story (I can't cope with scary stories I just can't) so I grabbed Susu's hand and I was looking around me 24/7 after that. So thanks Tuomas. The whole hike was stairs and boy was it steep. At one point Tuomas and I started running the stairs because we were bored and cold. It was really really windy and it got even more windy the higher we got. When we finally got to the top we just stopped and laid down and just looked at the stars (at this point it was pitch black). When we got back our friend told us that couple of our friends left before we came so that they could scare us (thank god they didn't find us) but they came back to the hotel 2 hours after us. It was pretty funny!
At 4.30 am Sverre, Susu, Nikolai, Henry and I went to the Sauna because others wanted to sleep but we couldn't. When we came in to the hall we found black crocs that we thought were Konsta's so we just went in. Susu and I wanted to go to woman's Sauna but the boy's had a feeling that we should check if Konsta was sleeping in the men's Sauna so we went there and boy can I just say that we had our lives biggest shock (and can I just say it wasn't Konsta who was there). We ran so fast to the woman's Sauna and just started to laugh and cry at the same time. I couldn't understand what I had just witnessed.
Back to Vantaa
In the morning we went to have breakfast and packed our bags and we were ready to go but we were all still thinking about what we saw that night. We had our last class of first-aid and after that we just had time to chill and to some of us it was recovering time from yesterday. We left at 5pm from Kiilopää. We stopped at Rovaniemi to get some food and stuff for the 16h trip that we were going to have again. We all just ran to McDonalds! We ate there and got food to take with us too. Me and Maria tried to go to a supermarket but the whole thing was closed! How do shops close at 7pm in Rovaniemi at Thursdays?! So we tried to find a shop and we finally did and we got some redbull (some=4) and we were ready to go. The back to home trip was not so fun. We were all sick and I felt sick the whole trip so it was really hard to get some sleep. But when we got to the school it was great that we could finally go home and sleep in our own beds. It was weird that when 1 got home there wasn't ten or fifteen other people around me talking. But the trip was amazing and I wouldn't have wanted to spend the week with anybody else than my class.
